Five teams fits groups of about 20 to 35 people: a full class, a summer camp group, a large office team. The page opens on Make 5 teams. Paste the names and press the button; sizes differ by one person at most, so 28 people make three teams of six and two of five.
Five teams pair naturally with five stations. Set up five activities around the gym or the classroom, send each team to one, and blow the whistle every ten minutes. After five rotations every team has done every station, and no station ever has more than a fifth of the group. It works for PE circuits, science labs, reading centers and team-building workshops.
With five teams, every round has one team sitting out. The schedule below takes care of it: five rounds of two games each, and each team rests exactly once. Ten games in total. Use the resting team as referees or scorekeepers so the break still involves them.
Planning a smaller tournament? 4 teams plays every match in three rounds. For larger events with six tables or courts, see 6 teams.
Every team meets every other team once: 10 matches over 5 rounds.
