Animal would you rather questions

Would you rather sleep like a koala or like a dolphin? Many of the questions on this page are built on real animal abilities, so every round doubles as a mini nature lesson. Koalas really can sleep up to around 20 hours a day, dolphins rest one half of the brain at a time, sea otters hold paws while they float, and emperor penguin dads keep the egg warm on their feet. Others are just for fun, like choosing between an otter day and a hummingbird day. They suit kids, classrooms and any adult who has ever watched a nature documentary.

How to play

  • Read the question and let everyone pick a side. Tap the winning animal to show it on screen.
  • Fact check. After each vote, someone shares one thing they know about the animals in the question. No facts? Look one up together.
  • Animal impressions. The losing side does a quick impression of the winning animal. Sloth impressions are encouraged.

  3. Get the next one

Tap again or press Next question. The counter shows how far you are, with no repeats until the end of the list.

Any suggestions for improvement?

We build tools that are as simple and intuitive as possible, with a few bonuses here and there. Tell us what would make this one better.

Ideas for teachers and parents

  • In science class, use a question to introduce adaptations: why does a bloodhound have such a strong nose, and how does a homing pigeon find its way?
  • Before a zoo or aquarium visit, play five questions in the car and have kids look for those animals once you arrive.
  • For writing practice, kids pick an option and write a short "day in the life" story from that animal's point of view.

Animal facts in the questions are kept simple and general. For a school project, check details in a library book or a museum or zoo website.
