Truth or dare for a sleepover

Sleeping bags are out, the flashlight is on, and nobody is anywhere near tired: that is when sleepover truth or dare comes out. This page is made for that moment. The truths are cozy and a bit silly, about pillow forts, bedtimes, closet doors and the best cereal of all time. The dares are quiet ones you can do from your sleeping bag, without leaving the room or waking up the grown-ups. It is aimed at kids and tweens from about 8 to 14.

How to play after lights out

  • Circle up on the sleeping bags. Pass the phone or tablet around with the brightness turned down. Each player taps Truth, Dare or Random.
  • Whisper mode. After a set time, everything is played in whispers. Anyone who shouts loses their turn.
  • Flashlight keeper. Whoever holds the flashlight reads the card and shines it on the player answering, then passes it along.
  • The sleepover promise. What is said tonight stays in this room. Everyone promises at the start, hand on a pillow.

How it works

  1. Gather the players

Sit in a circle and decide who starts. One phone in the middle is enough, or put the page on a TV.

  2. Tap Truth or Dare

On your turn, tap Truth, Dare or Random. The card comes from this page’s list, and anyone can pass.

  3. Pass the turn

Answer honestly or do the dare, then hand over to the next player. Prompts don’t repeat until the list is used up.

Tips for kids and for parents

  • Nobody leaves the room. No dare on this page sends anyone to the kitchen, the backyard or a grown-up's bedroom.
  • No pranks on sleepers. The first one to fall asleep gets to sleep in peace: no marker on faces, no photos.
  • No filming. Dares are not recorded, so nobody finds their sleepy face on someone else's phone in the morning.
  • For the parents hosting, the full list of questions is printed right below the game. A quick skim shows there is nothing inappropriate.

Big group? Split into two teams with sleeping bags facing each other, and give a point for every dare completed. The winning team picks tomorrow's breakfast.
