Land on a random country in Asia

This wheel has 46 countries: the UN member states in Asia, from the Middle East to Japan. Each has a 1 in 46 chance, about 2.2%. Two choices shape the list: Russia is on the Europe wheel, as in the UN's regions, and so is Cyprus. Turkey, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan are here.

Ideas for spinning Asia

  • Street food tour. Spin and find one dish that people eat there every day, then try to cook it or find it nearby.
  • Scripts and alphabets. Look up how the country's name is written in its own script. A good way to discover the many writing systems used across Asia.
  • Silk Road game. Spin five times and put the countries in order from west to east. Check on a map and score one point per country in the right place.
  • Travel bucket list. Let the wheel choose a destination, then look up the best season to go: monsoon months in South Asia and winters in Central Asia change a trip completely.
  • Neighbors chain. Spin a country, then name a country that borders it, then one that borders that one. The chain stops when someone gets stuck.

Countries by region

The wheel follows the UN's five Asian regions. Western Asia, which covers the Middle East and the Caucasus, has the most countries.

Questions

Is Russia on the Asia wheel?

No. Russia stretches across both continents, but the UN counts it in Eastern Europe, so it is on the Europe wheel. Add it here on a new line if you want it.

Why are Turkey and Georgia on this wheel?

The UN places Turkey and the three Caucasus countries in Western Asia. Some lists call them European; delete them if your class does.

Is each of the 46 countries equally likely?

Yes. Every slice has the same size, so China has the same 1 in 46 chance as the Maldives.

Is this wheel of names free?

Yes. It is free to use, funded by advertising, with no account and no app to install.
