A random fruit in one spin

Everyday apples and bananas share this wheel with pomegranates, figs and passion fruit: 24 fruits, one per slice. Each has a 1 in 24 chance, about 4.2%. Use it in the kitchen, in a preschool classroom or in a language lesson.

Ideas for the fruit wheel

  • Smoothie roulette. Spin two or three fruits, blend them with yogurt or milk, and rate the result out of ten. Keep a list of the winners.
  • Fruit of the week. In class, spin on Monday, bring that fruit in on Friday, and taste, draw and describe it together.
  • Vocabulary practice. Learning English or another language? Spin and say the fruit, its color and whether it grows on a tree, a bush or a vine.
  • Grocery challenge. Spin before shopping and buy one fruit you rarely eat.
  • Guess by touch. One player spins and hides the fruit in a bag; the others feel it and guess.

How many smoothies can the wheel make?

If you spin until you have different fruits, the number of possible mixes grows fast:

Tip: delete the fruits you don't have at home before you spin, so the wheel only suggests what you can actually blend.

How it works

  1. Add your entries

Type names or options in the box, one per line. Your list stays saved in this browser.

  2. Spin the wheel

Tap the wheel or the Spin button in its center, press Space, or flick the wheel with your finger or mouse.

  3. See the winner

The wheel slows down and stops on one slice. Spin again, or remove the winner to draw the next one.

Questions

Are tomatoes and avocados fruits?

Botanically, yes, but most people cook them as vegetables, so they are not on this wheel. Add them on new lines if your game follows the botanist's rule.

Can I use the wheel with toddlers?

Yes. Cut the list down to six or eight fruits they know, so the names on the wheel are big and easy to read aloud together.

Can I learn fruit names in another language with it?

Yes. Replace the list with the fruit names in Spanish, French or the language you are learning, then spin and say them aloud. Or spin in English and translate before the pop-up appears.

How do I spin several fruits without repeats?

After each spin, press Remove in the pop-up. The fruit leaves the wheel, and the next spin picks from the rest.

Is this wheel of names free?

Yes. It is free to use, funded by advertising, with no account and no app to install.
