Australian Powerball number generator

Australia’s Powerball is drawn every Thursday night and has nothing to do with the American game of the same name, apart from the idea of a separate ball. In a standard game, you choose seven numbers from 1 to 35 and one Powerball from 1 to 20, which comes from its own barrel.

Division 1 needs all seven numbers and the Powerball. There are 134,490,400 possible games, so it is the hardest of the three big Australian jackpots to win, more than twice as hard as Oz Lotto. There are nine divisions, and every one except Divisions 2, 4 and 7 needs the Powerball. The smallest prize, Division 9, is two numbers plus the Powerball.

Press Quick pick for seven different numbers in order, plus a Powerball in its own style, on up to 10 games. Because the Powerball barrel is separate, it can show the same number as one of your seven.

American Powerball or Australian Powerball?

The names match, the games don’t. The American game uses five numbers from 69 and a Powerball from 26, and pays $4 for the Powerball alone. The Australian game uses seven numbers from 35 and a Powerball from 20, and the Powerball alone wins nothing. If you are in Australia, this page is the one you want; for the US game, see the US Powerball generator.

  • About one game in 44 wins a prize, usually Division 9 or Division 8.
  • No pattern beats chance. Previous results don’t make any number more or less likely on Thursday.
  • Sharing is the only thing you can change. Random games split a jackpot less often than birthdays, with the same odds.
