A chore wheel that nobody can argue with

Who does the bathroom this week? Spin and find out. This wheel opens with 18 common household chores, from emptying the dishwasher to changing the sheets. Each spin gives one chore, and every chore has the same 1 in 18 chance. Because the wheel decides, nobody can say they always get the worst job.

How to run a chore wheel at home

  • Take turns. Each person spins in turn and presses Remove after their spin, so the chore is taken. Keep going until the list is empty.
  • Match the list to your home. Delete what doesn't apply (no pet, no dishwasher) and add your own jobs: mowing the lawn, cleaning the litter box, wiping the car seats.
  • Big jobs twice. Split heavy chores into two lines, such as "Clean the bathroom sink" and "Clean the shower", so they are shared out like the rest.
  • Age-friendly lists. Young children can have their own short list: set the table, feed the pet, put toys away.

How many chores each?

If everyone takes turns and presses Remove until the wheel is empty, the 18 chores split like this:

PeopleChores each
29
36
44 or 5
53 or 4
63

With roommates, you can also use the team generator to split the house into pairs first, then spin chores for each pair.

How it works

  1. Add your entries

Type names or options in the box, one per line. Your list stays saved in this browser.

  2. Spin the wheel

Tap the wheel or the Spin button in its center, press Space, or flick the wheel with your finger or mouse.

  3. See the winner

The wheel slows down and stops on one slice. Spin again, or remove the winner to draw the next one.

Questions

How often should we spin the chore wheel?

Once a week works for most families and shared flats. Spin on the same day each week, Sunday evening for example, so everyone knows what is coming.

What if someone gets the same chore every week?

With a random wheel it can happen, just as a coin can land heads twice. If it bothers you, delete last week's chore from their turn before they spin.

Can I put names on the wheel instead?

Yes. Clear the list and type names, then spin once per chore. The random name picker is also handy for drawing several names in one go.

Is this wheel of names free?

Yes. It is free to use, funded by advertising, with no account and no app to install.
