Spin a capital, name the country
This wheel has the 45 capital cities of Europe, one for each country on our European countries wheel. It works as a reverse quiz: the wheel shows a capital, you name the country. Each city has a 1 in 45 chance, about 2.2%, and the answers are in the table below.
How to play
- Solo practice. Spin, answer, check. When you get one right, press Remove so the wheel only keeps the capitals you don't know yet.
- Team quiz. Two teams take turns. A right answer scores one point; a right answer plus the country's flag colors scores two.
- Ten in a row. Try to get ten correct answers in a row. A wrong answer sends your counter back to zero.
- City break picker. Forget the quiz and let the wheel choose your next weekend away.
The trickiest capitals
Some capitals are easy to confuse: Bratislava and Ljubljana, Riga and Tallinn, Skopje and Podgorica. Others share their country's name: Luxembourg, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City. Bern is officially the Swiss "federal city", and Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands even though the government sits in The Hague.
