Hard would you rather questions

These are the questions that make a room go quiet. There are no superpowers or dragons here, just real-life trade-offs where both sides cost something: unlimited free flights or unlimited free restaurant meals, a four-day week of long days or a five-day week of normal ones, a big city with no car or the suburbs with a long drive everywhere. They are written for teens and adults, and you can answer every one without revealing anything private.

How to play the tough ones

  • Vote at the same time. Read the question, give everyone ten seconds to think, then reveal answers together with one or two fingers. No one gets swayed by the first voter.
  • Timed debate. Each side gets 30 seconds to make its case. Then vote again and count how many people switched.
  • Only if… Any player can add one condition that would flip their vote. The group decides whether the condition is fair.

How it works

  1. Read the question

Two options appear in two big boxes. Read them out loud: every question comes from this page’s list.

  2. Pick your side

Everyone chooses. Tap the winning option and it is highlighted for the whole group to see.

  3. Get the next one

Tap again or press Next question. The counter shows how far you are, with no repeats until the end of the list.

Debating without fighting

A hard question is not a test of character. The person who picks the longer commute for a cheaper rent may have reasons you have never heard. Ask before you judge, and accept that there is no correct answer.

  • At a dinner party, a few of these replace a board game and spark conversations that last the night.
  • In class, they make good argument practice: one group writes three reasons for, the other three against.
  • At work, a hard but harmless question is a solid icebreaker before a team meeting.
  • Do the math out loud when money is involved. Small differences add up fast over a year, and working it out together is half the fun.

Questions

How are these different from the funny questions?

Funny questions are absurd and meant for laughs. Hard questions are realistic, and both options have a real cost, so people hesitate and argue.

Are hard questions okay for kids?

They are written for teens and adults. For younger players, the kids category has simpler, more imaginative choices.

Can I use these for a debate class?

Yes. Each question works as a short debate prompt or a paragraph where students defend their choice with two reasons.

Are these would you rather questions free?

Yes. The page is free, funded by ads, and needs no account or app. It works in your browser.
