MAXMILLIONS, MAXPLUS and the free play
When the jackpot reaches $50 million or more, extra MAXMILLIONS prizes of $1 million are drawn, with the same odds as the jackpot for each one. MAXPLUS prizes of at least $100,000 are added at every draw, one for each million in the jackpot. Neither changes the odds of the main draw shown here.
- The most common win is a free play, for three numbers, about once in 28 selections.
- Four selections per play don’t overlap. They are four different combinations, which is why the per-play odds are simply four times the per-selection odds for the jackpot.
- Big jackpots mean more sharing. Random numbers make a split less likely than dates do, without changing the chance of winning.
