Honest tips for Powerball players
- Random lines share less, they don’t win more. Numbers up to 31 are played far more often because of birthdays, so a jackpot on a “calendar” line is more likely to be split. A random line has exactly the same chance to win and a smaller chance of sharing.
- Power Play multiplies prizes, not odds. For $1 more per play, it multiplies the non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10, and turns the $1 million prize into $2 million. The 10X multiplier is only in play when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less.
- Double Play, offered in some states, enters the same numbers in a second drawing with its own prize table and a $10 million top prize.
- A record jackpot doesn’t change the odds. It only brings more players, so more people to share with.
Since July 2026, Powerball is also sold in the United Kingdom, at £4 a line, with its own prize table and the same rolling jackpot.
