Roll the dice

Plenty of board games, from family classics to backgammon, use two six-sided dice, and that is the pair waiting here. Tap them, press Roll or hit the Space bar, and you get both faces plus the total. The two dice are independent, so there are 36 equally likely combinations. The totals are not equally likely, though: 7 comes up the most, 2 and 12 the least.

Doubles (both dice the same) come up 6 times in 36, or 1 roll in 6.
Two six-sided dice are the standard for many board games. In Monopoly, rolling doubles lets you roll again. In Catan, a roll of 7 moves the robber. Backgammon players roll two dice on every turn. To keep one die and re-roll the other, tap the die you want to keep before you roll.
The dice for this page are already on the table, and the sentence under them says how many and how many sides. No setup needed.
Tap the dice, press Roll or hit the Space bar. They tumble, land, and the result appears at the top.
Tap a die to keep it while the others re-roll; Release all frees them. To roll something else, tap the number of dice or sides in the sentence.

1 in 36, about 2.8%. Snake eyes (two ones) is a single combination out of 36. Double six has the same chance.
8 in 36, about 22.2%: there are 6 ways to make 7 and 2 ways to make 11.
7, twice the 3.5 average of one die. That is also the most common total: 6 of the 36 combinations add up to 7, which is why so many board games give the 7 a special role.
