Snakes and Ladders, Ludo or a choice between six options: one six-sided die is all they need, and this one is ready to roll. Tap the die, press Roll or hit the Space bar. When to roll a single die

  • Board games. Many family games move pieces with one die. Keep a phone on the table if the die went missing.
  • Quick choices. Number six options and let the die decide.
  • Kids’ games and lessons. Count the dots, practice adding, or tally many rolls to see each face come up about a sixth of the time.

Questions

What are the odds of rolling a 6?

1 in 6, about 16.7%, on every roll. Past rolls do not change it.

How many rolls does it take to get a 6?

On average, 6 rolls. Nothing is guaranteed: the chance of at least one 6 is about 52% in 4 rolls and about 84% in 10 rolls.

What is the average roll of a six-sided die?

3.5, the average of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Over many rolls, the results average out close to 3.5.

Are opposite faces of a die always the same?

On a standard six-sided die, opposite faces add up to 7: 1 is opposite 6, 2 is opposite 5 and 3 is opposite 4. The on-screen die follows the same layout of dots, and every face keeps the same 1 in 6 chance.

Is this dice roller free?
