Roll 5 dice online

Five six-sided dice, ready for the classic family of five-dice games. Tap the dice, press Roll or hit the Space bar. All five land at once and their total, from 5 to 30, appears above them. To keep a die between rolls, tap it: it stays in place while the others tumble again.

Games played with five dice

  • Yatzy and Yacht. On each turn you roll up to three times, keeping any dice you like, and score the result in one box of a score sheet: ones to sixes, three or four of a kind, full house, straights and five of a kind.
  • Poker dice. Hands are ranked like poker hands: a pair, two pairs, three of a kind, a straight, a full house, four and five of a kind.
  • Liar’s dice. Each player rolls five dice under a cup and bids on how many of a face are on the table, counting everybody’s dice.
  • Generala. The Latin American cousin of Yacht, where five of a kind on the first roll wins the game in many house rules.

Odds worth knowing

Five of a kind on a single roll is rare: 6 combinations out of 7,776, or one roll in 1,296. With three rolls and the usual tactic of keeping your most common face, it rises to a little under 5%. Straights and full houses are much more common than people expect on the first roll, a little over 3% and close to 4% respectively. The second table below lists every pattern with its exact count.

The kept dice are marked on screen, and Release all frees them in one tap at the start of the next turn.
