Set For Life number generator

Set For Life is the National Lottery game that pays its top prize as an income: £10,000 every month for 30 years. A line costs £1.50. You choose five main numbers from 1 to 47 and one Life Ball from 1 to 10, and the draws take place on Monday and Thursday at 8pm.

Match the five main numbers without the Life Ball and you get £10,000 a month for one year. Below that, the prizes are fixed amounts, from £250 down to £5 for two main numbers. The top two prizes are paid monthly and can’t be swapped for a lump sum.

Press Quick pick for five different numbers in order, plus a Life Ball in its own style, on up to 10 lines. The Life Ball has its own pool, so it may be the same number as one of the five.

What the odds look like

There are 15,339,390 possible lines, so the top prize is about three times easier to win than the Lotto jackpot in a single round, and about one line in 12 wins a prize. The Life Ball splits every result in two: with five numbers, getting it right is the difference between one year and thirty years of payments, and it is a one in ten chance.

  • Think in totals. The top prize adds up to £3.6 million over 30 years, paid in monthly instalments.
  • Any line is as good as another. The draw doesn’t know whether your numbers are a quick pick or your family’s birthdays.
  • Two draws a week at £1.50 a line comes to about £13 a month for one line in every draw.

You must be 18 or over to play. Keep a budget, and if it stops being fun, the National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133.
