Roll a d100 online

A d100, or percentile roll, gives a number from 1 to 100 where each result has exactly a 1% chance. This page opens with one hundred-sided die: tap it, press Roll or hit the Space bar. The average roll is 50.5.

Two d10s or one d100?

Real hundred-sided dice exist, a ball with a hundred tiny faces, but they roll for a long time and are hard to read. Most players roll two ten-sided dice instead: one marked 00, 10, 20 and so on for the tens, one marked 0 to 9 for the units. A roll of 30 and 7 reads 37; 00 and 0 together read 100. Both methods give the same, perfectly even odds, and so does the on-screen die.

What percentile rolls are for

  • Roll-under skills. In percentile systems, a character with a skill of 65% succeeds on a roll of 65 or less. Low is good.
  • Random tables. Loot tables, encounter tables, rumor tables and the wild magic surge table of fifth edition are organized in ranges from 01 to 100.
  • Any percentage. A 30% chance of rain in your campaign, a 15% chance that a guard notices you: roll and compare.
  • Making decisions. Split a choice unevenly, for example 70 for option A and 30 for option B, by reading 1 to 70 as A.

Rolling a table quickly

Write your table ranges so they add up to 100, for example 01 to 40 for a common result, 41 to 75, 76 to 95 and 96 to 100 for the rare one. Each range has a chance equal to its width: here 40%, 35%, 20% and 5%. Then roll once and look up the line. For a plain number between 1 and 100 without a die, the 1 to 100 number page works the same.

How it works

  1. Your dice are ready

The dice for this page are already on the table, and the sentence under them says how many and how many sides. No setup needed.

  2. Roll them

Tap the dice, press Roll or hit the Space bar. They tumble, land, and the result appears at the top.

  3. Keep, re-roll or switch

Tap a die to keep it while the others re-roll; Release all frees them. To roll something else, tap the number of dice or sides in the sentence.

Questions

Is a d100 roll the same as two d10s?

Yes. Reading one d10 as tens and one as units gives each result from 1 to 100 the same 1% chance, exactly like a single d100.

How do I read 00 and 0 on percentile dice?

Together they mean 100. On the screen, the die simply shows 100.

What does roll under mean?

You succeed when the roll is equal to or lower than your score. With a skill of 40, a roll from 1 to 40 succeeds: a 40% chance.

Is this dice roller free?

Yes. It is free to use, funded by advertising, with no account and no app to install.
