The answer to "I'm bored"

Let the child spin. This wheel holds 22 activities that need little preparation and no screen: building a blanket fort, play-dough, a treasure hunt, a puppet show, paper airplanes, sidewalk chalk and more. Each has a 1 in 22 chance, about 4.5%. A plan from the wheel can be easier to accept than one suggested by a parent.

Tips for parents and teachers

  • Prepare the list once. Delete what doesn't work at home (no garden, no oven) and add your children's favorites. The page keeps your list.
  • Age matters. Origami, baking and kitchen science need an adult nearby for younger children. Musical statues and bubbles work even for toddlers.
  • Rainy day. Delete the outdoor activities, and the wheel only suggests what can be done inside.
  • Siblings. Each child spins in turn, and the family does both activities, one after the other.
  • Holiday planner. During school holidays, spin each morning and press Remove so the whole list gets used.
  • Something to look forward to. After homework or a tidy room, the child gets to spin for the next activity, so the wheel becomes a small reward.

  2. Spin the wheel

Tap the wheel or the Spin button in its center, press Space, or flick the wheel with your finger or mouse.

  3. See the winner

The wheel slows down and stops on one slice. Spin again, or remove the winner to draw the next one.

Questions

What is a kitchen science experiment?

A simple experiment with things from the cupboard: baking soda and vinegar, a lava lamp with oil and water, or growing a bean in a jar. Search for one that fits your child's age.

Can I make a wheel for a birthday party?

Yes. Replace the list with the party games you have planned and let the birthday child spin before each one.

How do I stop the same activity coming up again?

Press Remove in the pop-up. The activity leaves the wheel, so the next spin always suggests something new.

Is the wheel suitable for a classroom?

Yes, for wet playtimes or the last ten minutes of the day. Keep only the activities that work for a group in a classroom.

Is this wheel of names free?

Yes. It is free to use, funded by advertising, with no account and no app to install.
