Lost the game? Spin the punishment wheel

Games are more fun when losing costs something small. This wheel holds 20 harmless forfeits, also called punishments or penalties in party games: talk like a pirate, do the chicken dance, say the alphabet backwards, compliment everyone in the room. Nothing dangerous, nothing that costs money, and most take under a minute. Each has a 1 in 20 chance.

Where to use it

  • Game nights. The loser of each round spins. Board games, card games and video games all work.
  • Class quiz. The team in last place spins at the end of each round. Keep it light; the point is the laugh, not the punishment.
  • Family dinner. Forgot to clear your plate? Spin. Children love giving forfeits to adults.
  • Parties. Combine it with truth or dare as the penalty for refusing a truth.
  • Team forfeits. In team games, the losing team spins once and the whole team does the forfeit together. A group chicken dance is worth the defeat.

What kind of forfeit?

The list mixes three kinds, so not every forfeit needs a performer's courage:

KindForfeitsChance per spin
Silly735%
Moving525%
Talking840%

Set the house rules first: how long a forfeit lasts, and that anyone can swap a forfeit they are not comfortable with.

How it works

  1. Add your entries

Type names or options in the box, one per line. Your list stays saved in this browser.

  2. Spin the wheel

Tap the wheel or the Spin button in its center, press Space, or flick the wheel with your finger or mouse.

  3. See the winner

The wheel slows down and stops on one slice. Spin again, or remove the winner to draw the next one.

Questions

Are the punishments safe for kids?

Yes. They are silly, short and harmless. Still, adapt the list to the group: delete anything that a child or guest finds too awkward.

Can I add my own forfeits?

Yes. Type each one on a new line. Short forfeits of up to 24 characters fit best on the wheel; longer ones still appear in full in the result.

What is the difference between a dare and a forfeit?

A dare is something you choose to accept in truth or dare. A forfeit is the price of losing. The wheel works for both.

How do I stop the same forfeit from coming up all night?

Press Remove in the pop-up after it has been done. It leaves the wheel until you reload the list.

Is this wheel of names free?

Yes. It is free to use, funded by advertising, with no account and no app to install.
