Roll 10 dice online

Ten six-sided dice in one throw, with the sum worked out for you. Tap the dice, press Roll or hit the Space bar. The total runs from 10 to 60, but in practice it stays close to the middle: the average is 35, and most rolls, about 83%, land between 28 and 42.

When you need a fistful of dice

  • Big damage. A fireball cast with a fifth-level slot deals 10d6, and a rogue’s sneak attack reaches 10d6 at nineteenth level. Adding ten dice by hand slows the table down; here the total is instant.
  • Dice pools. Some games ask you to roll many d6s and count the dice that show 5 or 6. With ten dice you get three and a third hits on average.
  • Counting games. Count how many dice show a face chosen in advance. The third table below gives the exact odds for 0 to 10 matches.
  • Probability lessons. Ten dice make the law of large numbers visible: the sum of many dice almost never strays far from 35.

Why ten dice rarely go extreme

There are 60,466,176 ways for ten dice to land. Exactly one of them gives 10 (all ones) and exactly one gives 60 (all sixes). By contrast, a total of 35 can be made in 4,395,456 ways. The more dice you add, the more the totals pile up in the middle, which is why the table below groups the totals by three and gathers the rare tails into two rows.

At least one six turns up in about 84% of rolls of ten dice. To roll fewer, tap “10 dice” in the sentence and choose another number.
