Random number between 1 and 15

Fifteen numbers, from 1 to 15, are loaded on the reel. Press Generate and each one has a chance of one in fifteen, about 6.7%. It is a handy size for a small class, a sports squad, a book club or a group of colleagues.

Typical uses

  • Calling on students. Give each student a number from a class list of 15 and pick who answers next. With No repeats on and 5 numbers, you get five different names in one go.
  • Squads and teams. Choose who sits out, who takes the first penalty or who picks the next drill.
  • Question banks. Fifteen revision questions on a sheet: pick one at random to start a lesson.
  • Bingo columns. Each column of a 75-ball bingo card holds fifteen numbers, so 1 to 15 is exactly the B column.

Picking without picking the same person twice

Classrooms are where fairness matters most to the people being picked. Turn on No repeats and ask for 20 numbers: with only fifteen in the range, you get every number exactly once, in a random speaking order. Copy the list to the board and cross numbers off as students take their turn. Nobody gets picked twice while someone else is skipped, and nobody can claim the order was chosen by the teacher.

For names instead of numbers, the name picker draws straight from a typed list. For a bigger group, try the 1 to 25 page.

How it works

  1. The range is set

The lowest and highest numbers for this page are already in the sentence at the top, and both can come up. Nothing to type before your first pick.

  2. Pick your number

Press Generate or the Space bar, or tap the number. The reel rolls like a slot machine and stops on the result.

  3. Change it if you need to

Tap how many numbers you want in the sentence to get up to 20 at once; No repeats keeps them all different. Tap either end of the range to type a new one.
