Random number between 1 and 60

An hour has sixty minutes and a minute sixty seconds, which makes 1 to 60 the natural range for anything about time. The page opens with exactly that range. Press Generate and each number has a chance of one in sixty, about 1.7%.

Random minutes and seconds

  • Surprise check-ins. Pick the minute of the hour for a quick break, a stretch or a random reminder to drink water.
  • Timed games. Pick how many seconds a round of charades or a speed quiz lasts. It keeps players guessing when the buzzer will go.
  • Practice and drills. Pick a minute for a clock-reading exercise, or a number of seconds for a plank or a breath hold.
  • Sampling a recording. Want to spot check an hour of audio or video? Pick five random minutes with No repeats on and listen to those.

A note about 60 versus 0 to 59

Clocks count minutes from 0 to 59, not 1 to 60. If you want a clock minute, read 60 as 0 (the top of the hour), or set the lowest number to 0 and the highest to 59 by tapping them in the sentence. Both choices give each minute the same chance.

Sixty is also a comfortable size for a big group, such as a year group in a small school or a club with sixty members, and for lists like sixty vocabulary words. Pick in batches of 10 with No repeats on to split them into lessons.

For a whole day rather than an hour, combine this page with the 1 to 12 page for the hour.

How it works

  1. The range is set

The lowest and highest numbers for this page are already in the sentence at the top, and both can come up. Nothing to type before your first pick.

  2. Pick your number

Press Generate or the Space bar, or tap the number. The reel rolls like a slot machine and stops on the result.

  3. Change it if you need to

Tap how many numbers you want in the sentence to get up to 20 at once; No repeats keeps them all different. Tap either end of the range to type a new one.
