Random number from 1 to 25

With the range fixed at 1 to 25, every press of Generate gives one number with a 4% chance, one in twenty-five. That is the size of a typical class, of a five by five grid, and of many small raffles at a school fair or an office party.

Good fits for 1 to 25

  • A class register. Number students in the order of the register and pick who reads, who answers or who leads the warm-up.
  • A five by five grid. Number the squares row by row: 1 to 5 across the top, 21 to 25 along the bottom. Handy for battleship-style games, seating plans or a square on a map.
  • A small raffle. Sell 25 tickets, then draw the winners in front of everyone. With No repeats on and 3 numbers, you get first, second and third prize in one press.
  • A countdown to Christmas. Many advent calendars run to the 24th or the 25th of December. Pick which door, treat or activity comes next.

Drawing prizes in a fair order

For a raffle, decide the order of the prizes before the draw and say it out loud: the first number wins the top prize, the second the next one, and so on. Turn on No repeats so a ticket cannot win twice. Then press Generate once for the whole set rather than once per prize, so nobody can stop the draw halfway because they did not like a result. If a winner is not there to collect, agree in advance whether you draw again or move down the list.

For larger school events, the 1 to 50 page and the 1 to 100 page work the same way, and the raffle tool draws names straight from a list.

How it works

  1. The range is set

The lowest and highest numbers for this page are already in the sentence at the top, and both can come up. Nothing to type before your first pick.

  2. Pick your number

Press Generate or the Space bar, or tap the number. The reel rolls like a slot machine and stops on the result.

  3. Change it if you need to

Tap how many numbers you want in the sentence to get up to 20 at once; No repeats keeps them all different. Tap either end of the range to type a new one.
