Random number between 1 and 30

This version of the generator is already set to 1 through 30. Press Generate and each number has a chance of one in thirty, about 3.3%. Thirty matches the length of a month in April, June, September and November, the size of many classes and the length of the popular 30-day challenges.

Where 1 to 30 fits

  • A day in a 30-day month. Pick the date for a meeting, a deadline or a monthly check. For months with 31 days, use the 1 to 31 page instead.
  • 30-day challenges. Fitness, drawing or writing challenges usually come as a list of thirty tasks. Doing them in a random order keeps the hard ones from piling up at the end.
  • Class of thirty. Pick a student, a partner for group work or the order of presentations.
  • Thirty questions. A revision sheet or a quiz bank: pick which question opens the lesson.

Shuffling a 30-day challenge

Write the thirty tasks down in their original order and number them. Each morning, open this page, generate one number and cross that task off the list. If the number belongs to a task you already did, press again. By the end of the month every task is done exactly once, but you never know what tomorrow brings, which is half the fun. Prefer to plan ahead? Ask for 20 numbers with No repeats on to schedule the first twenty days in one go.

A quick note on fairness: the generator gives each number from 1 to 30 the same chance, with no memory of earlier results. A number that came up yesterday is just as likely today.
