A class of twenty, a list of twenty questions, a d20 roll without the die: 1 to 20 is the range already loaded. Press Generate or the Space bar to pick a number. Each number from 1 to 20 has a 1 in 20 chance, or 5%, the same odds as a twenty-sided die.

Ideas for a number from 1 to 20

  • Calling on students. Give each student a number and pick who answers, presents or goes first.
  • Quizzes. Number 20 questions or flashcards and let chance choose the next one.

How it works

  1. The range is set

The lowest and highest numbers for this page are already in the sentence at the top, and both can come up. Nothing to type before your first pick.

  2. Pick your number

Press Generate or the Space bar, or tap the number. The reel rolls like a slot machine and stops on the result.

  3. Change it if you need to

Tap how many numbers you want in the sentence to get up to 20 at once; No repeats keeps them all different. Tap either end of the range to type a new one.

Questions

What are the odds of getting a specific number from 1 to 20?

1 in 20, or 5%, on every pick. Both 1 and 20 can come up.

Can I use this instead of a d20?

Yes. The odds are the same as a fair twenty-sided die. If you would rather see a die, the dice roller has a d20.

How do I pick several students out of 20 without repeats?

Number your students from 1 to 20, tap “a number” to choose 2, 3, 5 or 10 numbers, and turn on No repeats.

How do I split 20 people into two teams?

Number everyone from 1 to 20, tap “a number”, choose 10 and turn on No repeats. Those ten numbers form one team and everyone else the other. For more teams, the team generator does it in one tap.

Is the random number generator free?

Yes. It is free to use, funded by advertising, with no account and no app to install.
