Pick between and
The range for this page runs from 1 to 8. Press Generate and each number has a 12.5% chance, one in eight. Eight shows up wherever things are built from halves of halves: brackets of eight teams, octaves of eight notes, eight lanes on a running track, eight squares along each side of a chessboard.
Write the eight names in any order, then ask for 10 numbers with No repeats on. Since only eight exist, you get each of them once, shuffled. The first number is the position of the first name in the bracket, the second the position of the second name, and so on. Slot 1 plays slot 2, slot 3 plays slot 4, and so on. Because every ordering is equally likely, no team can be steered toward an easy side of the draw. Do it on a shared screen with full screen on so everyone sees the same result.
If you only need to split eight people into two sides, the team generator does it in one tap. For dice, the d8 roller shows a real eight-sided die.
8 possible numbers. What changes when you pick more than one at a time:
| Numbers picked | A given number is among them (No repeats on) | At least one number twice (No repeats off) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 12.5% | 0% |
| 2 | 25% | 12.5% |
| 3 | 37.5% | 34.4% |
| 5 | 62.5% | 79.5% |
The lowest and highest numbers for this page are already in the sentence at the top, and both can come up. Nothing to type before your first pick.
Press Generate or the Space bar, or tap the number. The reel rolls like a slot machine and stops on the result.
Tap how many numbers you want in the sentence to get up to 20 at once; No repeats keeps them all different. Tap either end of the range to type a new one.

12.5% each, or one in eight. The draw is fair for every number, including 1 and 8.
Tap “a number”, choose 10 and turn on No repeats. Only eight different numbers exist, so you get all of them, 1 to 8, in a random order: that list is your seeding.
Yes. Each number has the same 1 in 8 chance as a fair d8. The dice tool also shows an actual d8.
